Strengthening the Regional Economy in the National Economy
JAKARTA - Strengthening the regional economy is important to stimulate the national economy. A strong regional economy will be able to encourage economic growth, create jobs and reduce poverty and economic inequality.
Chairman of the National Economic and Industrial Committee (KEIN) Soetrisno Bachir referred to the Solo City which had a strategic role in driving economic growth in Central and national Java. This city, according to Soetrisno, has developed sufficiently from a small and medium industrial center to a service city in the last 15 years.
"The leadership of Mr. Joko Widodo in Solo for almost 2 periods, also gave a new color to the local economy in Solo that can be emulated in other regions," said Soetrisno in his written statement, Jakarta, Sunday (05/26/2019).
SB said that his nickname, the development of the service sector in Solo can be seen from annual activities that are known nationally and internationally. Some of these activities include Solo Batik Carnival, Solo International Performing Arts, Solo Batik Fashion, Lively Indonesian Culture and so on.
This annual activity, said SB, has become an icon that drives the development of the tourism sector and the industry Mice, Incentive, Convention and Exhibiton (MICE). And the service sector has indirectly contributed to the development of small industries in Solo that have already existed such as batik, handicrafts, textiles, the wood and furniture industry and the processed food industry.
Also spurred the small and medium businesses in the culinary field such as restaurants, stalls, cafes and so forth. Strengthening the Solo local economy, continued SB, will also attract foreign exchange both in the tourism sector and from the results of exports of small and medium industries.
"If the small and medium industrial production chain is strengthened, the dependence on imported components will diminish, and this will certainly have a positive impact on Indonesia's trade balance," he said.
